With a growing number of our customers becoming 5-door Jimny owners, we thought it was best that we got our hands on our own example for product testing and development!

Commonly referred to as a JC74 (chassis code), a Nomade (in Japan) or simply an XL (in Australia), these 5-doors share most of their components with the smaller JB74 3-door models, albeit with a longer wheelbase, an additional pair of doors and more luggage space.

We recently welcomed a very small human into the world a few weeks ago, so we’re hoping that this Nomade will allow us to enjoy the perks of being Jimny enthusiasts while also acting as a family car! It’s certainly not the most practical or economical choice but, if you love Jimnys like we do, nothing else will suffice!

It’s amazing to see how much Suzuki have developed the Jimny platform since they stopped selling them officially here in the UK. Comparing this 2025 Nomade to our trusty 3-door SZ5 that we’ve owned since 2019, creature comforts such as power folding mirrors, keyless entry, stop/start and rear parking sensors are immediately visible additions. However, less obvious additions such as bonnet insulation and additional sound deadening in the engine bay and underneath all help to contribute to a quieter, more relaxed driving experience.

It’s been a long time since we’ve daily driven a completely standard Jimny and it’s been nice to get ourselves reacquainted. That being said, we’re very much looking forward to bringing it into our workshop and getting the build process underway!
